What ISO/IEC 17025 is
ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard that defines the general requirements for the competence, impartiality, and consistent operation of testing and calibration laboratories. Accreditation to it — granted by a recognized accreditation body — is how a lab demonstrates that its results are technically valid and can be trusted across borders and industries.
It is built on two pillars:
- Management requirements — document control, records, internal audits, management review, corrective action, and addressing risks and opportunities.
- Technical requirements — personnel competence, equipment and calibration, method validation, measurement traceability, measurement uncertainty, and reporting of results.
What accreditation requires of you
To become accredited, a laboratory must build, document, and operate a management system that conforms to every applicable clause, then pass an on-site assessment. In practice that means producing:
- A quality manual and policy framework
- Documented procedures (SOPs) covering both management and technical requirements
- Forms and records that demonstrate the system runs day to day
- Evidence of method validation, traceability, and measurement uncertainty
- A completed internal audit and management review cycle
This is typically 200–400 hours of documentation work before a single assessment. That is the work our template kit collapses into customize-and-adopt.
How the AccreditationKit 17025 kit helps
Our ISO/IEC 17025 kit gives you editable, clause-mapped documentation — quality manual, procedures, forms, internal-audit and management-review packs, and a clause-coverage matrix — so your team customizes proven documents instead of writing from a blank page.
The templates are tools you tailor to your laboratory and implement. They accelerate your path to assessment; they do not by themselves grant accreditation.
